Ann Wauters is a former professional basketball player from Belgium born in 1980. She played for several American and European professional teams throughout her career and was the first Belgian-born player in the WBNA.
She began playing basketball when she was 12 years old and was noticed by French coaches when she was 16. Once she completed high school, she left Belgium for France to play for US Valenciennes Olympic. She was then drafted for the Cleveland Rockers aged 19, making her the youngest player in the WNBA at the time. She has played for several other teams including New York Liberty, San Antonio Silver Stars and the Los Angeles Sparkes.
Wauters has won the Euroliga four times, the Eurocup once, and has 12 national titles and one WNBA title. She has also been named the European Women’s Player of the Year five times. She took numerous breaks throughout her career, including one after she gave birth to her son Vince. However, Wauters returned to basketball the same year. In 2022, Wauters became an assistant coach for Chicago Sky. For the rest of her career, she wants to inspire young women in sports to follow their dream.
