Indian yogi activist in the One Trillion Trees platform fighting deforestation
Jaggi Vasudev is an Indian yogi who became very famous for his yoga sessions. Through them, he teaches and passes knowledge about many different topics, being spiritualism the main one. In 1992 Sadhguru founded the Isha Foundation, which is a spiritual organization where he offered Isha Yoga programs. Nowadays, millions of volunteers run this foundation. In 2007 he received the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award from the Government of India for his contribution to this spiritual field.
Apart from his spiritual side, Sadhguru has helped the environment by supporting projects such as One Trillion Trees platform. Planting this number of trees could be very helpful for climate, biodiversity and sustainability. Moreover, Sadhguru started a movement called Rally for Rivers to save India’s lifelines. Its aim was to revitalize the rivers. Sadhguru went through many different Indian states to raise awareness of the rivers’ problems, and to give people ideas on how to help them. Rally for Rivers was the world’s largest ecological movement, supported by over 162 million people.
Sadhguru believes that most of human’s problems are created by humans, and that even though issues can be complex, their solutions are sometimes simpler than expected.
