Canadian, founder of SuraiTea offering job opportunities to Syrian refugees
Kevin is a Canadian entrepreneur who had the impulse of helping Syrian refugees in Canada by opening a tea company called SuraiTea. He decided to found a company on jasmine based teas because Jasmine is the unofficial national flower of Syria and its capital is also known as “The City of Jasmine”. Also, Surai is an ancient name for Syria.
Moreover, Kevin also supported these people by hiring them. The basic idea and goal of this company is to create positive social change for refugees. This new opportunity Kevin offers to Syrian people is not just to pack tea. It goes beyond that mechanic job: it is their first job in Canada, being this a very good starting point to their adaptation to the country. Apart from hiring Syrian refugees, it also raises money for settlement efforts.
Surai Tea company was awarded with an Ottawa Social Impact Award by Mayor Jim Watson at the Museum of Nature
